Take Time to Relax- Guided Relaxation

Research across the world has repeatedly shown that regular relaxation practice can have a profound, positive effect on our mental and physical health, and on our general sense of well-being. Despite knowing this, many of us find it difficult to find a good relaxation plan, and to figure out how to fit it into our busy days!

If you have attempted to choose a “just-right” meditation from among the many available online, you may have found yourself overwhelmed, and a little uncertain as to where to begin. Selecting from among the abundance of resources out there can actually be a barrier to getting started. I am regularly asked for recommendations for simple relaxations, and I have found myself caught in a maze - sampling many meditations that don’t necessarily go as I’d imagined.

So, today I’d like to offer you one option for a simple, passive muscle relaxation that you can use to ground or reset at any point in your day, including as you prepare for sleep (just don’t use it while driving!).

What to Expect:

I’ll guide you through some breathing and a whole-body relaxation, moving from the base of your feet up through the crown of your head, for a total experience that lasts 15 minutes, though you can stay in a quiet state of relaxation following the end of the audio if you’d like. This meditation is often done with eyes closed, but I’ve included some calm, scenic photos if you find it easier to have your eyes open. I hope this serves as a start to your practice, or a new addition to an existing one. Please enjoy, and feel free to share it!
